This is Part A of today’s lab, the Carbon Resistor.

Many believe this is a linear best fit line with no dynamic portion.

 

Let’s investigate:   

If a dynamic portion, typically occurs at some place of change.

(in this case near 0 Volts)

 

As you see below, the intercepts are different, even though the slopes are generally the same.

 

Lets look at the data near zero.

As we see, the slope is different

 

Results:  

Positive:    0.629 V/mA or 629 Ohms

Negative:   619 Ohms

Dynamic:    703 Ohms

Note: The Ohmmeter measured the voltage of this resistor as 620 Ohms
